How To Give Your Yard A Gorgeous Look

Sonia Scott

Are you moving into a new house that needs totally new landscaping? Perhaps you have just decided that your present front and back yards need some major attention. Either way, here are some ideas that might inspire you to give your gardens a gorgeous look.

Mix Things Up - As you work on your landscaping design, consider mixing a hardscape with your ground cover.

  • Think about using flagstone or brick along with grass or another ground cover. If you lean toward using mostly flagstone or brick, consider letting the ground cover grow between the stones or bricks. This will add interest and color to your design.
  • A dramatic look will also be achieved if you use large rocks in your landscaping. Consider planting climbing vines that will partially cover the rock.
  • Another way to mix things up is to use pots of different designs and assorted sizes along with flowers.
  • When you plan your flower beds, consider adding succulents, moss, ferns and cactus along with your flowers. In addition, think about planting vegetables in with your flowers. Some vegetables that grow well with flowers are kale, eggplant, and snap peas.

Add Ornaments - Give Your gardens a personal touch with garden ornaments.

  • A lovely focal point would be to place an outdoor fountain in the center of your yard. If you are planning to do that for both the front yard and the back yard, consider buying two different styles that complement each other. That will connect the front yard and the back yard to each other.
  • Think about hanging decorative bird houses from the trees.
  • Statuary tucked in corners and among plants is another idea. Angels, children, and animals would all be pretty choices.
  • Consider collecting wind chimes that will provide a lovely sound to your outdoors.

Beautify With Trees - Do you have to start from scratch or do you have existing trees?

  • If you don't have any trees at all, you'll have the fun of picking out exactly what you want for your landscaping.
  • If your yards already have trees, consider yourself blessed. Trees don't just add beauty, they add shade which will help on your utility bills.
  • Consider hiring professionals such as Mead Tree & Turf Care Inc. to maintain the health and beauty of your trees. Professionals have been trained to detect disease that could spread to other areas of your garden.
  • Besides keeping your trees healthy, trained workers will trim the branches to give your trees an artistic look.

Have a wonderful time giving your yard a gorgeous look.

About Me
New Gardener? Choose Your Flowers Carefully

As a child and teenager, I watched my mother garden, although I wasn't interested in it at the time. I later learned that I had missed out on learning the craft because before I planted my first garden, I thought it would be so easy! Once I finally had a yard of my own, I was eager to plant some beautiful flowers in the yard and do other landscaping work. Unfortunately, I learned a hard lesson and none of things I planted survived more than a few weeks, even though I watered them daily. I gave my mother a call and asked her what could have gone wrong, and I learned that plants have to be chosen carefully. Check out this blog to learn more landscaping plant tips.
